Diego Ellis Soto (Twitter Diego_EllisSoto) is a third year PhD student in the department of ecology and evolutionary biology at Yale. His research tries to understand the distribution of biodiversity, as well as the drivers and consequences of biodiversity across the globe. His work combines remote sensing, GIS,  biodiversity informatics and fieldwork. Before coming to Yale Diego lived and worked in the Galapagos Island on the conservation of Galapagos giant tortoises jointly with regional decision makers. While mostly focussed n his native South America, he is increasingly interested in environmental justice work in his hometown New haven and beyond.
