Undergraduate student of Liberal Arts, Political Science and International Relations

Hello I am Tiya Singh, from Delhi, India. I am an undergraduate student of Liberal Arts with a major in Political Science and International Relations at O P Jindal Global University. Through an internship last summer, I got the opportunity to work on a problematic piece of legislation that dilutes the entire process of the Environment Impact Assessment( EIA) in India. Working under my professor and her team of lawyers sparked my interest in the nexus of international environmental law, environmental justice and the rights of indigenous groups. Since then I have ventured into creating interdiscipilnary policy frameworks for organisations, and initiated safe spaces for having conversations that question narratives around what we as a society understand as “development” . Along those lines, I have also been supporting local initiatives which address the social inequities that arise out of environmental challenges, through the means of collaborative projects. I have come to realise that in the 21st century, the environmental is intensely political, and it requires that we proactively engage all stakeholders every step of the way. I am also working on a collection of short stories that will help engage children with the complexities of climate change in a creative manner- for at the end of the day, it is all about the stories we tell ourselves.
