Jacqueline Gerson is a postdoc at University of California Berkeley. She earned her PhD in Ecology from Duke University and a MS in Environmental Engineering Science at Syracuse University. She is biogeochemist interested in the impact of human activity on the cycling of elements in the environment. Jacqueline is also the co-founder and co-director of Girls on outdoor Adventure for Leadership and Science (GALS). GALS is free a two-week science backpacking summer program for high school students who identify as female or gender non-conforming from backgrounds underrepresented in STEM. GALS started in NC and has since expanded to five other states.
