Jayson Velazquez is a Master’s of Environmental Science (MESc) student advised by Dr. Dorceta Taylor and is a member of the JEDSI team at Yale School of the Environment (YSE). He is a recent graduate of The Ohio State University where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Environment and Natural Resources. Jayson spent two years in the Doris Duke Conservation Scholars Program (DDCSP) both at the University of Michigan and Yale School of the Environment. In DDCSP, his research team studied the social justice implications of implementing green infrastructure in Western Michigan. Through DDCSP, Jayson also interned with the Urban Ecology Wellness Center in Hartford, Connecticut. His interests lie at the intersection of environmental justice, social justice, and urban development. Jayson aims to have his research answer questions and provide solutions to environmental justice challenges facing low-income communities of color.
