Joseph Rodriguez is a PhD candidate in political science at Duke University. His dissertation project develops a theory of the rights of nature. His research interests lie broadly in environmental political thought, environmental justice, and constitutional design and law. Prior to Duke, he studied philosophy and political science at the University of California, Berkeley. He was a Yale Environmental Fellow last summer, working with the Center for Biological Diversity, and he has held fellowships at the Library of Congress and the Max Planck Institute for Legal History and Legal Theory. He plans to pursue a career in academia as a professor.
