Yesica Chavez is the first Environmental Justice Community Liaison serving Colorado’s Front Range within the Colorado Energy and Carbon Management Commission. In this role, she co-leads the implementation of new community engagement requirements in the permitting of oil and gas development projects, advancing more inclusive and transparent decision-making processes. She brings more than a decade of experience in stakeholder engagement and community-centered research. Yesica earned her master’s degree in Global Health Research from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where she trained as a transdisciplinary researcher and led research initiatives in India and Bolivia. In 2024, she was selected as an Environmental Justice Fellow at the Yale School of the Environment.
